What to look for
We all have purchased or plan to buy patio furniture for our home, short-term rentals etc, but buying furniture comes with a lot of icks. And some of them are cheap materials, pricey, or hard to assemble. After buying quite a few pieces of furniture in my lifetime, here’s what I think you need to look for when buying patio furniture.
First, it’s easy to assemble: If your attitude toward furniture assembly falls in the “I can’t figure this out” then you need to find something that doesn’t require long hours to put together. Each furniture comes with instructions and prior to placing your order make sure you read them as well as the comments. If you don’t want to do any of that, hire an interior decorator like myself and we will set up your entire unit in no time.
Second is the material: The most common materials for patio sets are aluminum, and wood because of their durable, weather-resistant, and easy-to-clean qualities. Therefore, when it comes to picking a piece of furniture, especially when it’s going to be exposed to sun and rain, there’s no better choice. Harsh winter? No worries, you can always get a cover to protect them.
Last is the Price: As a general rule, Cheap doesn’t equal quality, same as an expensive item doesn’t mean that it will last forever. I usually purchase my furniture based on the number of years I may need them. If you’re going to upgrade them in a few years, it will better sense to get more affordable ones. Whereas, buying more expensive items if you choose to keep them a little longer.
